In keeping with my moto of recycling and economy, I decided to use the Armatron plastic base as my main control console.
Originally, the Armatron controlled all its functions by mechanically shifting several gear cogs to a main motor gear to run the robotic arm. I could not use any of that, so I challenged myself to make all these parts open and close electrical contacts instead . Using some balsa wood, brass strips and a Dremmel, I ended up with, what I call, a satisfactory result. So far it works good.
BTW
Notice that for simplicity reasons, I went with a 'tank' control system, left and right sticks forward and the rov advances, right stick forward and left stick back and the rov turns left, and so on.
Side movement of the sticks control the vertical thrusters foa all the other operations. I will have to use my index finger to operate a toggle switch to open or close the jaws.
